HP Printer problem

I started having problems with my HP 720 inkjet printer and found the red was getting very pink, not as dark as it should be. So I thought I would change the cartridge but not difference.

But now I have lost the ability to print yellow and blue. I have gone through and the colour management profile is set to automatic. I have even tried the printer on another PC but it has the same issue so the problem appears to be with the printer.

Any ideas? The printer is old but I have a big supply of ink for it!

just googled the printer & if i'm right the colour cartridge is a HP23, which are notoriuos for drying up
have you been using the printer regulary, if not the head could have dried up so get some warm water, put it onto a cup & stand the cartridge in for a second or 2, then dab dry it with a piece of kitchen town, if you need to move the towel go with the flow of the copper strip, that should bring back the colours, if not there is 1 other way to bring the colurs through, but i don't really want to say as it can get messy
but try that first

Thanks for going out your way and googling. However like I say this is a brand new cartridge and has the same problem as the old one. They can't have both dried up for the same colours!

it's ok i just needed the cartridge number, when i worked at a cartridge refill place that was one of the things i did if colours stopped working, but as it's new that shouldn't be a problem, unless you've been unlucky & i've known that to happen a few times.

Thanks, it was just the red that was off until I messed around with the colour management and now I have lost yellow completely and blue is pink! Even on a different PC its the same.

It could be that the assembly that cleans the cartridge is gunged up. My Epson did this after a while. If you lift the lid and then look to the right or left of the rollers you should be able to see the cleaning assembly. For my epson you could get new pads but due to the amount of gunk changing them didn't help.

If the HP23 is the cartridge you have a load of, the printers below also use it. I don't know if any are still on sale or not.
