HP Printer Woes

My HP Photosmart C4480 has fallen ill. It keeps complaining about my black cartridge being incompatible. I have bought a new cartridge and it is still moaning. Next step is phoning up HP right? (Google was not very helpful )

Anybody else had any similar problems with a HP printer/possible solutions? And off the top of their heads, anyone know the standard warranty length?

Standard warranty length will be 12 months unless otherwise stated on the packages or receipt.

If a new cartridge doesn't work then I'd be in contract with HP, they should be good with their RMA's.
