i got hold of a HP prodesk 400 g4 mini and its got no wifi. looking inside its got space for a wifi card but no antennas. is it just the case of slapping in a wifi card and then getting some ipx to sma cables and fitting them into the case?

iv got a wifi module lying around that should fit. but i dont see any internal antennas available for this model. i got a various bunch of stick antennas which screw into the back of routers lying around so i could use those too. will have to give it a try with some random antenna cables from busted laptops.

Upgraded it to 16gb ram and done bios update today. This thing is surprisingly quick. Didnt think a 35w cpu would be much but windows system response is very nippy. My old pentium sandy bridge U mini pc is considerably slower

Anyone know if you can install a heatsink on the nvme drive in this case or will it have issues touching the components under it?

thanks a pic would be good.
the case has some small holes at the back which looks like i can use rp sma connectors through it. will give it a try.

On these it isn't an internal antenna, it's a small rectangular unit that clips to the back - notches in the top left corner of your first picture, the WiFi cables run along the left side in the gap between the motherboard and case.

If you get stuck I can take a photo when I'm back in work on Monday.

you ever had to replace the thermal paste on these small machines? or is the stock application good enough?

Mine hit 78c in linpack and was 39.8w pull on cpu for a few mins then settled to 34.4w. Somehow its going over 35w limit for short periods

got this sorted now. using rp-sma to mhf4 cables and then external antennas on the back. works excellent and the wifi speed on 5ghz band is crazy quick with very good range.
