Looking for a little advice. I've never bought a HP server, and I have a couple of questions. I'm thinking of buying a basic ML310e Gen8 (1x Xeon E3-1220v2, 2GB RAM, 500GB Sata HD), and upgrading with it extra memory and HDDs. With that in mind:
- can I use generic HDs/RAM (eg WD reds and Corsair XMS kit from Overclockers), or do I need to buy HP''s own brand gear?
- will the server come with empty drive caddies for each drive slot, or do I need to purchase these separately
- If I buy a HP Carepack warranty, will the warranty be valid with the RAM/HD upgrades.
Thanks for your help. I've tried to reach out for help on the HP forums, but they are utterly useless. I thought some ppl here might have the low-down on this stuff.
