Hey all,

I've got a HP Prolient microserver and it comes without a CD Drive, and I was wondering what size of drive I can get to fit in there.
The Hp 'official' one is rather pricey and I was hoping for a cheaper one.
Would an old laptop one fit?

Thanks

Any slimline DVD should be fine - if you're interested I can put a mounting bracket in the sellers market?

The amount of times you need optical media these days just get a cheap ten pound USB one off an auction site.

I use the space in my N54L for another HDD connected to the eSATA and to mount my SSD.

Do I need a mounting bracket if i'm installing third party slimline drive?

I'm wanting this to work as a DVD player in my living room, as well as a mediacenter.

Will I need a GPU for this? It's still in the box as I'm waiting on HDDs, so I've not turned it on or anything

Is this a Gen8? You probably will need a graphics card as the onboard output is pathetic in resolution and colour depth.

The genuine one comes as a standard slimline DVD with a bracket - the case does grip the drive a little bit, but the bracket I have is a clone of the original bracket - it would fit a genuine drive if you had one without the bracket :)

Yeah, It's a Gen8, I'm hearing online that you'd need one to put Kodi on it, hmmm, purchases ahead.

Ok, I looked at an old Laptop Drive I have, looks like it takes a slightly thinner drive.
I recon I'll just go for a USB drive, Thanks though
