HP PSC 1215 causing major slowdown

I have had this printer for a good while but I usually leave it uninstalled due to the fact it slows my system down in a big way. When windows starts and the printer is installed my applications and my internet connection take a lot longer to initialise and i get the flashlight in my computer for a full 90 seconds so i cant do anything straight away. I find this really annoying as the printer is ideal it prints well and its compact but if i cant get this sorted then its getting binned. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be?

Only problem I have with that printer is that it cause a slow bootup if switched on; so I keep it off until I need to print. I also remove both the startup programs and it still prints fine (I think they are to do with scanning and error reporting). No other issues.
