I have a tape drive thats sitting in a server I brought for £5 :)

Erm I have a DSS 24 Tape that i want to back something up to, everytime i put in the disk it throws it out again after say 15 seconds?

A, what do i do lol
B, How on earth do i use it ? It doesnt show in my computer, although does in device manager, do i need a program to mount it to my computer or ???

HELP !!!

Thanks :)

use ntbackup (assuming it's a Windows machine). Right-click a hard disk and go to Tools/Backup.

Your biggest problem though is that a Surestore 6000 is only a DDS-2 (8GB) drive and you're trying to put in a DDS-3 (24GB) tape!

You can't write to it via Explorer so it won't show up in "My Computer". It's not like a CD-drive - it doesn't support direct writes or reads.
