hp dv6 3130sa entertainment notebook pc there are no drivers available for hd 5000 radeon graphics card for switcbale support so my laptop defalts to the intel hd graphics.

Now i have read there are solutions with 3rd party drivers and changing bios settings however i dont really understand the full process.

Can anyone help by giving me the full step by step process or if there is a link available that would be great or a link to relevent drivers

there is also an issues plugging the laptop into tv via hdmi its not being detected

you would think this has been resolved as windows 8 has ben out a while !

It will work, I have a HP Envy with switchable graphics (Intel HD 4000 + AMD Radeon 7670M) and installed the ones from AMD instead of using the HP ones as they are usually more up to date.

As for the actual problem, how do you know it's defaulting to the Intel one? Can you see the AMD GPU in device manager? What about with GPU-Z? Have you tried loading something like a game/benchmark to see if it uses the AMD one instead of the Intel one, as it usually only changes to the AMD one when the load is heavy enough. And last but not least, I don't think the switchable graphics has anything to do with Windows 8 :p.

the issue is HP are not providing any drivers for windows 8 on my laptop,

so if i install windows 8 and then the amd driver this will work?

Ah so you're basically doing a fresh Windows install. By default, Windows 8 will install ones from Microsoft which will also work, but the AMD ones will be more up to date. So maybe try the stock Microsoft ones a go first, and if you're not happy with it, update it with the AMD ones.
