hey
I just bought one of these arrays of the bay for a quid ( ) I will be using it mainly for testing and trying to use different technologies, it comes with an ultra320 SCSI interface
So I assume I am going to need an ultra320 scsi card for my pc, which is where I want to use the array. I do have a spare ultra160 external connector on the back of one of my servers so i could use that if I had to but, that would limit the transfer to 160MB/s no?
I have had a look around ebay and can only see PCI-X ultra320 cards :/ and the only pci-e one i found was £119! bit much to spend on testing :/
So my questions are:
Can you get cheaper PCI-E Ultra320 SCSI cards?
Can you get PCI Ultra320 SCSI cards?
I have read somewhere that you can use PCI-X cards in PCI slots, is this true? and would it work properly and up to the 320MB/s? The mobo i want to plug it into is very recent and only bought from overclockers about 2 months ago, so i assume it has the latest gen of PCI slot, which according to wikipedia has a bandwidth of 533MB/s
cheers guys
