HPET causes problems when gaming info inside.

I've always had HPET enabled on both this PC and my last build and never had stuttering or mouse lag issues.

There must be other factors in play, possibly a bug in the BIOS your motherboard uses.
 
Nice post, I have this option in my BIOS never played with it before... gonna give it a whirl now... never know it might solve the Black Ops stutter.


EDIT: Makes no difference to the stuttering in Black Ops :(

Well since i turned it off a number of my games dont have as much stutter and mouse lag. Maybe its different for people. I have defo noticed an improvement.
 
HPET seems to be a high resolution timer. Wiki says it's not used by XP, only Vista or later so it will make 0 difference if on XP.

It's difficult to see how it could cause a problem, it's just a timer. I would put it down to a bug somewhere in the software stack personally.

Disbabling it may reduce the fluidity of video, since it is used for video syncing / frame timing.
