Afternoon,

I was going to travel about 3 hours to view an Audi A4 avant s-line 2.0tdi 88,000 miles, Full Audi Service history etc.

Before making the long round trip I thought I would HPI check it and got a finance alert.

I have phoned that company up and they have advised they still have interest in the car, but as customer service was closed they were unable to provide me with any more information.

When I spoke to the buyer yesterday he said he had brought it from an Audi dealership in full. Is this a big warning sign and should I not waste my time going to view the car?

Thanks

Someone's got an interest in it, somewhere, but it may be that the flag was never removed from it after everything was paid off - I've come across that before. Further investigation would be required.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have emailed the owner to see if he can ring me regarding it. I am suppose to meet him at 5 so would need to leave now. Would you recommend leaving it today and driving up next weekend once the finance situation has been sorted?

What further investigation would you advise?

I believe the previous owner had it on a finance agreement with Audi. The seller ( he does seem honest) has said "That's weird, the only thing I can think of is moto novo haven removed it off the HPI register when I payed the car in full".

Waiting to hear back from him. I am heading back up North so the car is kinda on the way, about another 90mins diversion onto my journey. Thinking about going up to view it, and will leave a deposit once I am happy the finance has been settled.

My recent car I bought also had finance left over on it.
The lad brought the car up we phoned the finance company, I agreed to pay the finance off, he left the car and all paperwork with me.

I sent the remainder fo the money to his bank as soon as I had a letter from the finance company advising that they had no further interest in the car.

Definately worth waiting mate as if there's still finance the cars technically not his to sell

Thanks for that. We've agreed that if I come and view it and we agree on a price he will hold the car for me. Then tomorrow will phone the finance company (shut today, which is frustrating) and resolve the issue get confirmation to which I will leave a £100 deposit and pick up the car next weekend and pay the rest.

Does this sound like a sensible idea?

Thanks for everyones help. I will know by tomorrow lunch the situation regarding the finance. Hopefully it is all okay as the car was in great condition.

All checked out. The company hadn't updated the HPI list got a confirmation email from them today stating they have no interest in the car.
