HPI check question

Well, I'm buying a new car tomorrow and just doing a quick HPI check before I pick it up.

Slight issue is that the vehicle was on a private plate, it has just been changed back and the V5 received. The DVLA vehicle enquiry site has just updated to confirm this.

However, the HPI checks don't seem to have updated yet - they are still recognizing the private plate.

Is it ok to just do the HPI check on the Private reg that was on the car?

You need to make sure you are 100% covered so I suggest giving them a call, otherwise your HPI check could be worthless. Not worth the risk for the sake of a phonecall.

Cheers, although I take it that the HPI system just hasnt updated yet - the V5 was only received back at the end of last week, and only started showing up on the DVLA website on Friday evening...

Any other advice appreciated!

I thought proper HPI checked needed the chassis number rather than just a numberplate.. otherwise what stops someone getting a legit cars number plate made up and so HPI says all clear?

Well I've just done an HPI check for both registrations.

The private plate comes back 100% ok - and shows the original plate that has just been registered onto it.

The regular registration is coming back as it isnt on the car yet, which means the HPI just havent updated their systems yet!
