I'm selling a car which isn't getting a lot of calls. I got a call from one guy today who was super interested. He said he'll do a HPI check and get back to me.

He got back to me and said he doesn't want to go ahead because there's outstanding finance on the car!

When I heard this I was obviously shocked as this isn't true!

So I HPI checked my own car - and this is what is says:

It's actually putting a lot of people off despite there being no finance on the car licence plate!

That private plate isn't mine. It's the previous owner's.

I bought the car from a trader which had the plate WF59SUU.

I have no idea who C9EYE is.

Is there any way of fixing this mess? Who do HPI companies get their data from?

Another guy just phoned to ask if it has finance on it. I explained and said no. He then got confrontational and told me I'm lying.
