HR-01 Plus Heatsink. Are they any good?

The reason i ask is that one of my mates bought one recently but hasn't used it at all as he has bought himself a new laptop and he said i can buy it off of him if i wanted it. I have been looking for a new Heatsink for my wifes PC (AM2 System),

Not sure about it. Looked at the spec on thermalrights website but not sure how it performs. Apparently it might work without a fan but it comes with attachments for an 120mm fan!

Its very good. From what I can gather, its better than the TRUE when they're each running passively, but a bit worse than it when both have a fan. I'd hazard a guess at it being better than the TRUE at low rpm.

it is better than the true at low rpm... the true only wins when you crank the fans up.

Not sure what to do. He said he can't hold onto it for long as he needs the money! Will have to think about it.

They are extremely good, but they are designed to run passive cooling (they have little vents cut in the fins to allow air to circulate up through the tower) and when used with a fan the cross-flow air is very disrupted so I'd only buy if you plan to use it passively.

If the wife's AMD is at stock or one of the low energy versions get it and run it passively (ideally with a duct to the rear extract fan) Great coolers for a quiet system.
