I'm still on the fence regarding whether to get a Ryzen 1700 or a 7700k. Similar price and of course the pre-existing arguments of Clock speed vs Cores etc etc.

However, a 6700k can be had in the odd place for around £260, a full 70 quid below the current pricing for 7700/1700. Alright it might overclock (on average) 500mhz lower than the 7700k but the performance difference at 1440p (when the GPU will be the limiting factor) is only 2-4% and it is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Thoughts/criticisms/sweet nothings?

Must admit based on the above my (proverbial) needle is starting to quiver towards Ryzen, I only really game on it but I want to keep whatever CPU I buy for a while (I've had this I7 920 d0 since 2010 so have been spoilt a bit).
