Hrrrm, a question or two!

Hey guys, my rig (in sig) is getting a little long in the tooth, and this year at uni I'm doing a lot of rendering work in Max, Bryce and some video encoding, and wondered where i should go.

The big question is which part of my computer would benefit it the most? I'm leaning towards an i7 MB, processor and RAM, but it's a lot of cash. Could anyone spec me an upgrade? up to 450-500 quid is my budget

To be honest there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you have. That's a fine rig already. Upgrading to i7 is'nt going to bring that much of a performance increase for the money spent.

Considering the 3D rendering applications you use i'd just get more RAM, that's it. 3D rendering programs can take as much RAM as you can throw at it.

Maybe raided solid state drives to speed up disk access, plus Windows 7 to replace Vista.
Not much else you can do without going mad.
