A bit out the blue but HRT could be revived as Scorpion Racing. Info from Autosport -

A group of Canadian and American investors are pushing to try and secure HRT's entry slot in Formula 1, AUTOSPORT can reveal, but they may have to wait until 2014 before being allowed to join the grid.

Sources have revealed that negotiations to purchase the HRT company and secure an entry are at an advanced stage, and the plan for a team known as Scorpion Racing appears to have the blessing of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

Hopefully will work out and having a whole season to get itself sorted could be a good thing, plenty of time to do things properly and get some decent sponsors... Being Canadian/American would surely help that too.

Sounds like another disaster waiting to happen to me.

I don't know, it could be good, if the below happens...

Providing it gets solid backing and funding, they could finally produce a half decent car on time.

With the Austin GP getting good press coverage and some interest it'll help their chances of getting some American funding.

Hopefully it won't be another shambles like most of the other new teams.

It's very possible, but like I said at least this time the Yanks have 1 good race and 1 iffy looking street race to generate some interest.

F1 needs to cut out the deadwood. Can't see the point of having another team that will struggle to get into double point figures over a season.

It's embarrassing watching the struggling teams get dominated so frequently. Every sport has to have lower/mid end teams, but F1 has that in the likes of Williams/Torro Rosso etc

My view is they should either cut out the bottom 2/3 teams from last year, or create a race within a race (officially) like they do in Porche cup etc

The teams are only rubbish because the FIA chose the wrong teams. Had they gone with some more established teams who made a bid for a slot it wouldn't be as much of an issue. I agree 3 years in and not a single point between the 3 of them was very poor though.

But we know nothing about Scorpion, so its a bit early to judge. For all we know they could have a $1bn budget and access to personnel and development facilities that put Ferrari and McLaren to shame. We need to give this time.

Blame the FIA.

Edit: snap :)
