running from 8igdave
I have a Q6600 with one core at about 40-45 deg
one at 50 - 50
another at 60-70
and another at 60-70

operating @ 9*400 (3.6)with just over 1.375V
G0 stepping

Y are the cores getting such diff temps. is it becasue I haven't seated the HS right maybe? Im using arctic silver with http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-SB&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=
I think i might have put much paste on (if it is the HS which is causing this).

am i making a mountain out of a mole hill here? first time at OCing, I have it running at 3.2 nice and stable though.

Sounds like you havn't done the correct paste application. Horizontal line in relation to the little gold triangle, right across the heatspreader, right?

using prime and yes it is under load.

and looks like the paste is the issue. i did a figure of 8 as i put a small bit on and it didn't seem to cover it when the HS was on.

dam  i would say i noobed but david i keeping a running tally ;)

blue screen isn't the CPU overheating though is it?
mabey not enough Vcore?
hmmm core temp gives me diff temps to speedfan?

still a 10-3 degre diff between core 0,1 and 2,3 though

done (not a pro job ill admit) but it seems to have done the trick.
I now have a 5/6 degree diff between cores 0&1 and 2&3. Much better than the 10+ of before.

trying out 9X400 to get 3.6GHz with prime
been going 15mins and hasn't hit 70 unlike before either. Ill need to up Vcore though.
