how much faster is a i5 clock for clock faster than an i3 in games.

Clock-for-clock? You just get 4 cores instead of 2 cores with HyperThreading, so it depends on (a) how many CPU cores the game utilises, and (b) whether the game effectively utilises HyperThreading.

Now here's a confusing thread. Thread title asks about heatsink compatibility yet thread is about cpu's.

To answer the thread title, sockets 1150/1155/1156 all have the same spacing for the heatsink mounting holes.

Ninja edits by OP.

HSF will fit either 1155 or 1150 they are the same mounting (but not same cpu socket)

i5 vs i3 is negligible for most tasks, common sense denotes an i5 will be better in games that actually push more than 2 cores. The difference wont be huge but its a relative question depending on the rest of the PC spec and upgrade path. If you had a beat GFX card the answer would be i5 for example.

sorry about the title I realised it should have been posted in motherboards, got distracted and asked about the i5 vs i3 at the same clock speed.
thanks for the heads up on the socket hole spacing.
