Hi All,

I was given a PC today from work that they no longer wanted. Its a basic PC and nothing to shout about. A8 6600k and 8Gb RAM. Going to give it to the wife to work on instead of her laptop.

The HSF has two issues; it doesnt cool and its LOUD. I think its the standard HSF that would have come with the PC. The CPU in the BIOS was idling at 80'c. I have reapplied thermal paste but thats only helped a few degrees.

Anyone got any suggestions for a HSF to replace with. Just cool and quite, and cheap really. £20-30 max. The case isnt massive, so couldnt go too big with the HSF, but a low profile would work.

tl;dr: Need a HSF for an A8 6600k, not too big and not too expensive - £20-30 max.

How much space are we talking in the case?

If it's the stock AMD heatsink, they are just plain awful. I can't think of a single positive to those chunks of aluminium hatred...

BeQuiet Shadow Rock LP could fit the bill? Take it, it won't be overclocked?
