Just wondering if anyone has this running? I may have a second 3750 to play with shortly (our core switch is a 3750) and the plan was to just keep the config handy in case it blew up (and manually transfer it to the second unit) but I was wondering if we could do something a bit cleverererer :)

I should prolly leave well alone because it all works flawlessly atm... :p

Most people that have Cisco and HA will have HSRP running.

Of course if you go for a dual core switch solution then you can also start looking at per vlan spanning tree etc as well.

The only caveat I could immediately see is that we'd need another fiber run from each floor because the distribution switches would need to be connected to both 3750s?
Per vlan stp? Anything else I might have missed?

Just looking for considerations. Not done anything like HA on switches before so just anything that surprised you etc when you set it up :)

Make sure that on the new switch before you plug it into your core and pickup VTP or anything boot it up standalone and delete the vlan.dat file from the flash - particularly if it's come from a test lab or another environment. You wouldn't want it to mess up your existing VTP if the new switch has a higher revision number.

Aside from that - everything as already discussed, you could always run etherchannel between the two cores to give you more bandwidth on the core (subject to port availability)

You could do HSRP but there is a fair amount of config to do to ensure complete redundancy.

The best thing to do here would be to stack the switches. This would then enable you to port-channel uplinks to the core (2 switches) as Chief Wiggum. This solution would also make maagement a log easier.

Stacking is quite a good shout - missed that despite having configured 8 stacks of 3 3750 switches recently!

This would give you good bandwidth between the core switches and then allow you to use the 4xsfp interfaces for fibre to other switches...
