Having set the calendar app to open in 'Day View', what I want is that every time I open it, I am immediately shown today's activities. But instead, the day displayed on opening is stuck on whatever day I last selected in month or week view. This could be days, weeks, or months away from the current date. For instance, this is currently 23rd Sep for me, unless I select 'Today' from the menu, or scroll through the days. And even then, when I open one of today's events for more details and then hit the back button to exit, it'll return straight to 23rd Sep

The only way to change this 'stuck' day is to go into week or month view and change the date selected. Except if I do this, it'll just be stuck on that day instead, and hence useless again a day later. Why can't 'day view' just automatically show today as default like anyone with any sense (pun not intended) would assume it already would?!

Menu > more > settings > calendar view settings > day view > time view

That always pops me onto the current day (and time) with the HTC calendar app.

The best solution would be a sexy widget for today tasks though.

Is this when you open the calendar app or when displaying the calendar widget on the home screens?

If it's the app it's self then I dont know how to fix it as mine always starts at todays date.

But if you mean the widget then mine displays the last month you left it on, annoying yes but I dont use it that much so not much of a problem for me.

Hope that helps.

It's in the main app, I think they designed the day event view more for input/editing than viewing current events. When you go back to the week/month view you need press today again, regardless if you pressed it in the day event view.

I suspect most people use a widget to view today/upcoming events (and only use the app for adding/editing) so its not something HTC will change in a hurry.

Yup, I'm using time view already.

Well it's a bit silly if you ask me. The agenda view isn't everyone's cup of tea, so the fact that the time view equivalent is inferior just sucks really.

To be honest, it doesn't surprise me. Don't get me wrong - Android/Sense is a great user experience, but the whole Android empire just seems so much more functionality rather than end-user centric. It's these silly little unpolished niggles in Android (and there are a few that I've stumbled across), that exist not because of oversight, but because of the developers' lack of common sense and ability to connect with end-user needs, that make me really regret moving from iOS sometimes. :(

It's an HTC sense app, nothing to do with Google ;)
We're still at the mercy of crappy manufacture (and operator) software/updates, personally I think HTC sense is great, for the most part, and gets close to iOS.
The big plus about android is you can go vanilla and set everything up yourself.

I'm surprised your not using one of the million calendar widgets for viewing events, its so much better than just using a calendar app. Maybe your still stuck in iOS mode? :)

Of course it's to do with google. If google employed software developers that didn't have their heads stuck in geekland then we wouldn't have any need for Sense. As I said, I do agree that Sense is very good, and does put Android on par with iOS to some extent, but I also think that there are a lot of bad development habits engrained in Android that are simply reflected in Sense. Sometimes, the whole OS just feels a bit OCD tbh!

I mean, for example, in some circumstances Android stores 'Thanks' and 'thanks' as two separate words in the text prediction dictionary, then replaces your typed word with whichever of the above is used most, regardless of sentence structure. Even my old N-series could get that right...

Possibly! :p Any you could suggest?

I haven't tried many calendar widgets but smooth calendar is great place to start (wish I could just give the phone to Khaaan! or the others to setup :p)
