Any Desire owners experiencing the pink tint when trying to display certain shades of grey using the web browser?

Apparently this is to do with the alignment of pixels on the screen which only effects some displays. I have this issue any others experiencing the same problem?

Surprisingly http://htc.com/uk shows this up really well.

Yes I read that. Seems some displays don't do this and others bed in.
If you read that it says it's a side effect of the display technology used, all Desires will be like that, although the higher the brightness is set the less you'll notice it. Some people may just not see it but they will all be doing it.

Mine is a tiny bit pink. Never really noticed if before until studying http://htc.com/uk.

I suspect all Desire screens will be the same and some people can see the pink shade and others can't. People's colour perception does vary. I used to work in the television repair trade and met many who could not setup the grey scale accurately because once they got close to grey they saw grey.

Just talked to T-Mobile and they are prepared to swap it for a new one once new stock comes in. If the problem is apparant on the new models then I will just keep it. Not a big issue really but it would be nice if it displayed grey's correctly.

All PenTile matrix screens will look like this, see here for another example of why greys can come out pinkish http://www.metalev.org/2010/03/generating-false-color-images-on-nexus.html
I'm not saying you should cancel your replacement, but it very much seems that this is a side effect of the display technology

I see it on the gmail app, htc & o2 websites plus on the quick reply box on here.
Trying to decide if I should get it replaced or keep it, got it from cpw on payg.

Hmmmm. If this is a similar problem to "yellow-tint" on the new iMac screens, then all displays will have the same issue and users will be getting replacements expecting a fix albeit in vein.

I can definately see the problem on the HTC website. If I had not veiwed it on my PC for a comparison, I would have assumed those boxes to be light pink and thought nothing was wrong!

I think I will probably ask for a replacement, and if I get one and the issue is still there I will leave it.

Sidenote: for those of us getting replacements - does the HTC Sync backup EVERYTHING on the phone. Id like to not have to go thru installing and setting up my apps, settings and contact links all over if at all possible...

Same on my Hero. Thanks for really annoying me now by pointing this out.

Nah seriously, it's the tech and I don't think getting a replacement will help one bit. I certainly don't see it as a major issue, having not noticed until it was highlighted.
