HTC Desire: Youtube links send me to generic youtube.com homepage?

Whenever I try to tap a link to a YouTube video it sends me to the mobile YouTube homepage rather than the video.... its really frickn annoying.

The only time I can watch linked videos is if they are embedded.

Anyone know if I can change this? Or is it just a glitch with Android?

Tried using a different browser? Doubt it will work but worth a try.

At some point in the past it will have given you the option to open in the app or the website, if you clicked web and set as default that may be the cause

Go into the app settings, show all, select the browser and hit clear cache and reset all the defaults, do the same with the youtube app then try again, hopefully this will give you the pop up option to use the app, then select make that default

Are you on Vodafone?

I've always had this issue with them. The same thing happened with my Nokia handsets, as well as my Nexus One.

It didn't happen on 3.
