**HTC HD2 Thread**

Just got an HD2 to replace my Orange San Francisco. Totally love it, so much faster great build quality and no annoying niggles yet.

Currently running a 2.2 desire sense Rom using nand. Tried WP7 but honestly don't think its worth the hassle getting it activated. Besides doesn't seem that legal.

Are there any particular roms I should try out? Think I tried that nexus one but the image quality was poor. Might have been the launcher it was using though.

Not sure what you mean by image quality fella? Care to elaborate dude and maybe we can help you further.

I have had 18 Roms on my HD2 (they are all still on my SD Card.!) and there's no question in my mind that Nexus one is the best by a long stretch.

Since flashing the latest one which fixed a Bluetooth battery drain issue, I haven't even bothered looking at any other ROMs.

Anyhow a lot of the mature roms are all pretty good, it just depends what you want your rom to do / look like...ie Sense, Cyanogen etc

I'm referring to the dock and app tray icons. They don't seem to have the same quality as I normally do. Tbh I will probably use luancher pro anyway. I've just put it back on and will try it for a while.

Does anyone know how to get FM Radio back up and running on the Nexus Gingerbread builds?

It's the only thing I am missing right now, despite using online radio it's 1 - Data usage with no WiFi and 2 - Additional battery drain.

Hi.

I bought a HD2 off ebay a few days ago and I'm looking to put a Android ROM on it.

After I bought the HD2 I saw some Desire HD's going for £220. I couldn't believe it. I remember looking at the Desire HD around xmas time and they were £500!! So now I'm hoping I made the right choice picking up the HD2.

I've seen two methods mentioned - NAND and Sdcard. I've read that NAND is the fastest option for OS performance, but that its possible to brick your device. Is NAND still the way to go?

I've also been reading about the clockworkmod and non clockworkmod flashing. I know that clockworkmod has a few more steps but is it worth it?

I'm looking for the fastest Sense ROM available. I've seen Rafdroid ROM with sense that is meant to be super fast. Any other good Sense ROM's that I should be looking for?

Cheers.

Yes NAND is the way to go, clockwork is now pretty much the standard way to flash.

As for ROMs, well just have a look on XDA and try a couple out - unfortunately I don't know much about the later Sense based ROMs as I was using Gingerbread based ROMs right up until I sold my HD2.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for the HD2?

Hi fens.

So clockwork mod is the way to go cool. With clockwork mod can I flash any rom? Some mentioned CWM in the titles over on the rom forum and some don't. This has got me confused.

I paid £160 for it. The seller said it could pass for new. I hope so :). After I bought it I noticed desire hd's going for £230 brand new, some less  I was shocked. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have put another £70 to it and got the desire hd.

On the positive side the hd2 development seems to be still massive over on xda (some guy said it was still THE dev phone) and there a loads of ROM's to be trying out.

With the recent news that MS is discontinuing the MyPhone service, is there another way to backup SMS and contacts on the phone? I know you can do contacts via WM Device Centre but what about SMS?

Would love to try one of these new Android NANDS but I presume I would have to right off my satnav software (CoPilot) if I switched?

Upgraded to s SGS II, and sold my HD2! :p

Lad I've sold it to would like a Sense ROM, probably a Desire HD clone, any recommendations please? Cheers.

Not going to happen. Sense uses it's own framework, which hasn't (and won't be) ported to any non-HTC devices any time soon.

All you'll be able to do is install widgets and tweak it visually so it looks similar to Sense (i.e. I think Beautiful Widgets do some Sense UI-ish looking clock widgets etc).

Eh?

There's literally hundreds of different ROM's for the HD2 running various versions of Sense including the very latest Sense 3.0

See here

Oh I missed the bit where he said "lad i sold it to..." hah, i thought he was wanting a Sense ROM for the SGS II.

For a decent stock kinda ROM, i'd recommend this one. I'm currently using it and it's stable and has everything the Desire based ROMs have, just slightly more updated.

Thanks for the replies, I'll get it flashed this morning.

PS, I personally hate Sense, and not a fan of Touchwiz either, standard Android with LauncherPro all the way! ;)

For £120 its an awesome phone. They still sell on ebay £150-190. Its easy to change to android if you do enough research, and running android its potential is truly unlocked. Sense roms are nice looking and have cool features but are slow and clunky. Vanilla roms are very fast but very basic. No matter what rom you use though you will find quirks. I went from a san fran to the HD2 and the extra power, bigger screen and the ability to run flash was a worthy upgrade.

But the quirks got to much for and I constantly was changing roms. So I sold it for a profit and bought a galaxy s. So nice to have masses of memory.
