**HTC HD2 Thread**

i think the problem is poor trickle charge.

it thinks the phone can see it has fully charged and the cable is in so it gets no more power, when you put the cable back in it re evaluates and charges to full.

I reckon it charges to full, then doesn't bother trickle charging it, so it will just sit there on standby using battery.

I'd be interested to see where you get this info from. HTC said yes, and Microsoft are now saying no.

I know you could probably get the rom onto it, but surely it's going to be buggy as hell.

It CAN and WILL go on. No OFFICIAL update will be received due to the HD2 not having the correct buttons to meet WinMo 7 spec.

Having said that, XDA Devs will be on it like jam on a doughnut and the community will update it.

Only down to being MS being petty, I think Microsoft want to go with a more harmonised approached with Windows Mobile, it worked for Apple and it'll work for Microsoft as long as they do it right. Android is falling apart at the seems because of fragmentation and no one really taking ownership/responsibility for the platform.

Sounds like you read the same article as me.

I don't think Fragmentation is killing Android, if any Android is still just a standard that can be built on. Android for mobiles will always remain Android, just it'll be sugar coated to match manufacturers specifications. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest.

I think it's down to the Market, the compatibility issues that seem to be putting devs off. The Android Market has a distinctly amateurish feel to it. It also does not help that new devices are still being launched on 1.6 when 2.1 has been around for a while. I think Android will fall by the wayside and Windows Mobile will make ground.

Why did you not research the size? Why did you not look at one in the shop? Why did you buy a HD2 if you want something that stays in your pocket?

Had a weird problem the other, had the gps running whilst in the car, and after a while the phone was not charging. The status light was flashing between red and green, it was showing it was connected. I did noticed the back of the phone was pretty hot as it was in direct sunlight stuck to the window. Will the battery not charge if it gets too hot?

Correct.
