Why is browsing on the Hero so bad!? Even compared to my old omnia its poor...

If I am in an area with good reception or on wifi its 'OK', but not great. When i get the train home pages just fail to load because of the varying signals.

Compared to an iPhone the browsing is dismal at best.

Does anyone have any tips to speed up the web browsing speed?

I am running the latest modaco rom..

Does it use Opera Mini? Probably the best option available at the minute...

3G coverage problems are no fault of the phone.

they arn't, but the same problem didnt exist on my omnia or iphone....

they were just slow in poor signal. my hero litterally just gives up

Surely its not the hero's web browsing capabilities you have an issue with, just the reception

no it is the browser.

I am comparing like to like with other phones. For some reason if the browser connection is interupted it goes from 3g - > G it just doesnt load in. On iPhones if the same happens it is able to cope and reconnect using G.

Opera Mini seems to be a lot fast which I use now.

Its fine when I am sitting still in a 3g area, but thats normally at home or work where you have pc's to use. Mobiles are supposed to be used when you arn't at these places, hence the word mobile and hence why the Hero browser is a fail.

Not had any problems using the standard browser. Works fine for me, I often sit watching tv browsing the net on my phone rather than sit in front of the PC.

if you read the thread you would notice i said its not when sitting still thats a problem.

so it isnt the browser then and is a coverage problem
tried setting it to 2g only? maybe slower but better signal
