I've got a HTC M8, which sadly is slowly dying.
Headphones port has been dodgy for months, and the USB port is now being very dodgy too :(

Phone itself is in very good nick, other than a crack in the camera glass, and does everything I want it to, so I first looked into fixing it.
The headphones and USB jacks seem to live on the same ~£10 daughterboard, but the guides I've seen make it out to be a pig to get into without cracking the screen, and I'd really rather not start hacking about a really good condition phone myself.

The only phone shop in town whose opinion I trusted stated that they don't open unibody phones themselves, but send them off for exactly this reason.
£25 (Plus parts I presume)

This left me looking at options to replace it, and I frankly at the minute can't see anything I'm overly impressed with.
My two requirements are:
Same or preferably slightly smaller size. I came from a One S, and the ideal screen size for me is somewhere in the middle of these two (~4.7" I guess)
Good speakers & sound quality, preferably stereo. The phone does a couple of hours a day on speakers as a radio plus MP3 player usage too.

Looked at the Z5 as it had stereo speakers, and these were acceptable, but the volume wasn't as good as I'd like. You could also feel the whole phone vibrating, although some of that might have been the bass heavy music the demo thing had on it.....

Only other option that comes immediately to mind is the HTC M9, but the price point on that is still at ~£25 p/m for what's nearly last-years model.

Thoughts?

Very tempted to try and get the M8 fixed, but wondering if there's an option I've overlooked somewhere?

How much can you get a used M8 for, O2 offered me £67 for mine last week (which I declined) but I would expect they cant be that much more used now?

I have heard that the HTC's are a nightmare to repair.

Ballpark figure for a used M8 is £120 odd in decent nick, so an option I suppose, but one I'd rather avoid.
