I like HTC phones, I have the Ameo but finding it a pain now and wanting something smaller with the same functionalty. Been looking forward to the Xperia X1 but now we have this in the equation:

I dont really want integrated keyboard so this looks like a better solution.

What do you think?

Google the name for tons of videos. Reckons it will be out in June as well :)

i think it looks great, has 3 different keyboards, to suit all, normal phonepad layout, 20 key i think, and full qwerty, so one handed use is fine without a stylus. i think the memory side is a slight letdown but not a major problem, still get plenty of mp3s and pictures on there. the front end and browser is much improved over standard win mo and looks quite swish. all in all i think its leap years ahead of the current batch of PPC phones currently out there looks wise, much less geeky.

Spot on, it looks great and very neat. Dont need loads of memory and a chunky keyboard, looking like the best option for me.

I like the idea of a basic flashy front end but the deeper functionality of windows mobile.

From an ameo user.

Space isn't the issue, it's the interface.

With my current E650, I take out the micro-sd card, put it into the USB adaptor, and plug in to my pc and a window pops open, allowing me to quickly copy whatever music/movies/shows I want.

The Diamond will force me to use Activesync to send data, and it is VERY slow :(

Has a mass storage mode, just plug in and the 4gb is a drive.

Mines ready to go on the plane!!

What's your verdict on the Diamond, Spit? I've had one on pre-order for a while, but as a long-term Windows Mobile user I have to admit to be finally considering a jump to the new iPhone.

It is awesome! I have had windows phones and PDA's since the black and white screen days of the philips NINO!

It is very small and light. The screen res is gorgeous, I cannot see the pixels they are that fine. It looks like paper.

It takes a bit of getting used to with the front end but im getting there.

I havnt had a lot of time to set it up yet so its still fairly basic. I will be loading my software up over the next few days.

But so far no major flaws.

Any other questions, fire away.

Quick question that I would appreciate an answer to very much as it may sway whether I buy this or not. Is it capable of WPA-2 Enterprise encryption on the WiFi? My uni requires that encryption to get onto its network so its something I kind of need.

Went around a few phone shops the other day and none of them have exact release dates as of yet for the phone being available with a contract.

Cheers

How can i check for you?

Speed wise... fine tbh since I put the tweaks on. It seems to the the touch flow that people are complaining about. If you turn it off (which I havnt, only to try) the device flies. The problem with touchflow is the flashy graphics...they look great...but u tend to be waiting for it to complete its smooth flashyness if u get my meaning. Us phone geeks are to quick for it lol!!

It shows all the page, you double tap and it zooms in and reformats the page. It is the best and fastest mobile browser I have used bar none.

It picks up wifi just as good my laptop.

Ohhh I have a meaty question now... does it suffer the same problems as the TyTn II with regards to video playback acceleration... have you tried playingf a full 640*480 video on it to see how it performs? :)

i put a high bitrate transformers on at vga, using coreplayer its as smooth as silk. pleasnatly surprised.

An update on a few things:

Got Garmin Mobile XT running with the europe maps. Very good and responsive. Amazing GPS reception, get a signal within 10seconds everytime.

Battery life is not the best, BUT, the device is sooo much smaller and lighter than the tytn 2 its unbelievable! But I have been using the GPS, wifi, internet, music, calling etc quite a lot. Recharge times though are very quick to compensate.

The game teeter is incredible, everyone is gobsmaked when they see it. Guiding the ball around the maze with the phone is very addictive. When the ball hits the walls you actually feel it

Wifi reception is excellent.
Call quality through my bluetooth is the clearest I have ever experienced.
Phone reception is on par with my other phones.

Movie playback using coreplayer 1.25 is perfect for me.

touchflo stutters occasionally, but hey, cant have everything. Usually when you have programs still open.

Wish the contacts would integrate into the touchflo system better.

Cant think of anything else at the moment...

Ps. had no problems with my grey import so far.
