So I've been thinking about getting VR for a while. The price seems to have come down a bit, so I'm getting closer to the point where I might actually get one.

Out of all the headsets available, I'm thinking its a choice between the Rift or the Vive. I've not heard great things about the PlayStation VR.

Anyone here got a VR headset or maybe even both? Would you recommend either one?

Probably the Rift because its way cheaper than the Vive.

Although the Vive has better roomscale stuff by all accounts.

I have a vive and rift, both have their advantages and disadvantages but at £399 the rift wins. If your using the 1060 thats in your signature then the rift is easier to run than the vive due to oculus asw. Space wise if you can stand up and wave your arms around then you have the room.

+1

I've got a Vive, but the Rift is excellent at that price. For limited space I thing the Rift is the best option in any event.

Oculus is unmatched in value at it's current price point. The differences between the two units are too insubstantial to warrant paying almost twice the price.

I have a Vive but at its current price you should definitely go Rift.
I think if you had more space then it would be a closer call.

I haven't tried the Vive so not a fair judgement from me, based on my experience of the Rift I cannot possibly imagine how much better the Vive can be, especially considering the price points.
Rift all the way :)

What games do you want to play?

I recently tried a number of headsets back to back and my favourite was the rift. Contrast was good so was easy to get past the screen door effect, and it was easily the most ergonomic and comfortable. It is good on driving games too and tracking felt very smooth, so less sickness compared to my own experience of vive.

I got the Rift and it's great - From what I've read since getting it, it's more the less the same as the Vive with minor Pros and Cons on each side. Rift seems like fantastic value considering its current price!

I love my vive despite not having too much room ( got it second hand on here ) but can mirror above. At the price the rift can't be beaten. But you will be happy with either experience.

Here and now it's a no brainer, you'd be happy with either, and happier still with a few hundred pounds saving. The near future isn't so clear though, with other devices coming to market, and iterating game changers for the HTC not a million miles away. While a wireless solution currently exists in terms of a third party addition for the vive, HTC have partnered with intel to bring it officially. Wireless is the game changer, even in the early fledging state of vr, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets included in the sale of the vive at a combined cost at the current level. Perhaps one of the reasons HTC haven't reacted to oculus slashing their price.
