I’m VERY critical of the ‘pro’ price, but this is excellent, and as a Rift owner I would say this might be the best value VR headset now, as you get perfect room scale out of the box without the need for extra sensors, usb extenders and pcie adapters

I get tracking on par with vive in my 2.5x2.5 space with 3 sensors. Yes more cables. But with lighthouse instead of a usb cable extension (which came free with sensor), I would be using a plug socket extender.
However with rift, the headset is sharper (more useful to me than the fov), lighter with built in audio. I can enjoy games for longer without neck strain. Not to mention the free games. IMHO I would still rate the Rift as the better value for money.
But it's definitely getting closer.

Excellent point, I keep forgetting that the Vive also requires the audio strap, which I take for granted on the Rift.

I get perfect tracking on my 3 sensor Rift setup, but it was a pain to set up

Yeh the built in audio is great. I fully intended to use my own headphones with the Rift. Tried for about 2 weeks, but found it so much more convenient and lighter to just use the ones on the headset.
Another point for the oculus which I don't see enough emphasis is the software. The text is clearer using the cylindrical layers on the desktop mode, and ASW definitely brings the gpu requirement down a notch compared to the Steam solution.

USB extensions maybe, but given they're ~£10 a cable the Rift is still a cheaper deal. PCIe adaptors are not a requirement for Rift, it depends on your motherboard. An extra sensor (single), maybe but again not a requirement and particularly not for seated experiences. Even if it's preferred, a 3rd sensor will cost ~£60 and also this is the price for the Vive without the deluxe audio strap. Still, a step in the right direction even if 12 months too late in my opinion.
