Hi there

Over the last few weeks we have in secret being building an exclusive VR demo room where you can play the latest HTC Vive virtual reality demos and games. In short a try before you purchase experience. I believe there will only be six retail demo outlets in the UK and OcUK is one of those HTC Vive retail experience centres.

We are opening our VR room up to customers from tomorrow, but to begin with it is a strict appointment only basis with each demo lasting 20 minutes. Of course on quieter days you may get longer so a chance to try more demo's or even try some games. We have trained HTC and OcUK staff on hand to answer any questions you may have.

So no guessing as to what I've spent most of my day doing, yep killing zombies, playing in paint brush, shooting spaceships and smashing someones office up, great fun indeed. :D

Hmm, now to just carry on waiting, as I have done for the past however long, until my unit arrives and I get to try VR for the first time, with my own set.

Or go for a 20 minute try on Friday...

Shame we have to actually come to the store first to pre-order I'd do it in a heart beat if it meant saving £40! As it stands it would cost me double that in fuel to get to you though.

Seriously? Why u can't order online

Same here, don't want to travel an hour, just to preorder, when I can pick one up with a ten minute drive from one of the other UK Vive stockists.

You can only order online at HTC and you cannot pick one up from anywhere as HTC have not shipped any yet.

I can understand why , if you sold these via the website wouldn't the 14 day rule apply ? and it puts you into the grey area as crash helmets
are as you have to factor in hygiene issues as its a porous surface that's in direct skin contact ?

The rules are set by HTC and only they are selling online. They have six demo locations OcUK being one of which where you can try for yourself and then if happy pre-order in store of which the 14 day rule does not apply as you already tried prior to purchase and did not order online. :)

Staff who experienced motion sickness trying the DK2 have found they've not experienced motion sickness trying the demos. So far as I know, no one trying the demo has said to us that they've experienced motion sickness. Believe me, that was a concern I had. Wasn't looking forward to having to have a mop and bucket on hand. :D

Nice one mate thanks, I put on the old DK2 the other day and within seconds felt sick. Thanks :)

How is this being handled for the demos

I'll be honest this morning I saw there was a slot open for booking before lunch and was tempted to come give it a try but put off by the likelyhood that one device has likely been on 50-100 different peoples faces already

lets be fair the core demographic of pc gaming ethusiast is not one that you might associate with the idea of people with clean healthy skin, then there is the fact that using the vive can be a fairly physical affair and fairly quickly that HMD could get pretty grim.

I think all of the manfacturers say that VR should not be used by children (IIRC Oculus said age 13+) so I would be surprised if Overclockers would allow him to demo it.
