Hi,
What is the best way of hooking up a HTPC to 28" Samsung Widescreen TV (CRT) ? Motherboard is a Asus A8N-VM CSM

HTPC Outputs: DVI, VGA, S-Video,

TV Inputs: Scart, S-Video and L-R Audio with a Yellow video in.

S-Video, you'll need the S-Video bracket/cable though (not supplied with the board) Or you could pickup a cheap videocard with S-Video out, ie ATI X300. I have the same motherboard btw.

Yup contact Asus, or check the bay. Even a PCI GFX card will do, as long as it has S-Video out, should find those pretty cheap. Look for ATI though, I generally found their S-Video outputs superior to Nvidia.

LMK if you do find one, might pick one up also...come in handy. If it's more than £15 not worthwhile, just buy a card and that'll offer S-Video plus better video acceleration (tried a X300 128MB dedicated and roughly 5-10% less CPU % compared to the onboard 6150) Chucks out more heat though.

No. Really though S-Video is fine for normal video, CRT low definition anyway.
Although it's rubbish compared to VGA or DVI, if your display accepts it...one good reason to buy a 6 chip DLP projector. ;)

Would getting a DVI/VGA ---> Scart/S-Video/Composite cable give better results?

Dvi/vga to scart would be a slight improvement, though you dont really start to notice a big difference until component with progressive scan, but only the best crt tvs support that.
