I need to get cracking with a HTPC build for a Xmas present. Originally I was going to buy a Revo but have been given the impresion that for the same money a custom built one would offer more.
Therefor the criterion is:
£350 ish,
silent
storage not part of the build - coming from ext. HD or NAS
provision for wireless
internet use occasionally
mainly used to playback archived DVD's
also used for online radio etc. Spotify.
Please suggest a spec that would meet my needs and be better than a Revo, or should I just buy one?

Little bit over, but would spank all over a Revo

Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3 Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Mini-ITX Motherboard £89.99
Intel Core i3 540 3.06GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail £82.24
Lian Li PC-Q09FB Mini-ITX HTPC Chassis - Black £80.99
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £58.74
Western Digital Scorpio Black 160GB 7200RPM SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD1600BEKT) £33.99
Sony Optiarc AD-7700S 8x DVD±RW SATA Drive - OEM £23.49
Total : £369.44

N.B. Its a 2.5" SATA drive and slimline optical (from the laptop drive section) you could upgrade it for a slimline blu ray but youre adding more to the cost, you'll be nearer 400
case includes a 150W flex PSU (according to Lian Li site, no mention on OcUK???)
