Hi,

would this do the job?

I'm looking for it to run XBMC

it will be used for 1080p MKV's bluray isos etc and MUST be able to bitstream HD Audio to my AV Reciever through hdmi

mustbe quiet and no jitter on playback

parts i intend on using:

Asrock E350M1 E350 Mini-ITX Motherboard

Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 Memory

OCZ OCZSSD2-1VTX30G 30 GB Vertex Series SATA II 2.5-Inch SSD Drive

Antec ISK-100 mini-itx Case 90W PSU

Would it be a beast?!?

cheers

Hi,

Yes it will work fine.
I'd recommend a bigger SSD if you are going to be running Windows 7 and XBMC.
After all Windows updates and then downloading film/tv content it will fill the 30GB very quickly.
If you are just running XBMC live then 30GB should be fine.

The E350 has a 6310 graphics chip which will allow you to bitstream over HDMI.

Got almost an identical build save for the ssd and its very quick and very responsive. Handles everyhting hd I ahve thrown at it, uses little power and is darn near silent

bought this today minus the hi speed drive. so saved myself £55(ish)

i have a 120gb wd bevs drive i will use for OS & XBMC

going to get 2 nas devices and chuck 2x 2tb drives into EACH for 8tb storage total

I tried that board and wasn't impressed so returned it. I would definitely rather go for the Core i3 2100T. It's actually got lower power consumption when idle too (believe it or not!)

The E-350 was just too slow and i was getting a lot of issues with it.

Had to keep costs down. Aslong as it plays all my mkv's perfectly and runs some retro games emulators at good speed im happy
