Hi everyone, basically I would like advice on my proposed HTPC build.

I am torn between building a fullblown HTPC or just settling for a NAS appliance. What I want to be able to do is to watch all my media stored on 2-3 computers around the house on my TV.

Its need to be able to;

*Use bit-torrent
*Watch & Record TV
*Play media files from network computers

I have specced it with storage, but i've probably got enough media to quickly fill that up, so i suppose i could go initially for an HTPC with storage and then expand with a NAS in the future.

What i'm concerned about is; 1) Noise & 2) Will it play all my media files to a TV? (divx, etc)

  • Antec Fusion HTPC Case - Black/Silver (PSU Included)
  • Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R Micro ATX (Socket 775)
  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200
  • Compro VideoMate Vista T750F Dual DVB-T Hybrid Internal PCI TV Tuner
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA-II 32MB x 2
  • Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 800MHz
  • Scythe Mini Ninja CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
  • Sony NEC Optiarc DRU-V200S 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter

I guess finally, do I need a video card & sound card? I do not have a 5.1 speaker setup yet but am looking at that too.

Any advice/feedback is welcomed!
