Hey all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a htpc build.

The better half has finally had a melt down with the number of devices we use to watch/stream tv. So ps4, apple tv, sky box being removed. Our film collection is all on itunes, apart from the odd kids dvd. We also stream netflix etc.

I would like the option of adding a gpu for gaming at a later stage.

I have an copy of win 7 I was going to put onto it and upgrade to win 10.

I've got a budget of about £500.

Many thanks

In my opinion you should just have a device for content viewing and nothing more. The idea of getting a GPU in a htpc is all well and good , but in the end its noisy and if your anything like me will barely use it anyway.

The intel NUC's are super small, quiet, and simple to use and would be my recommendation over anything else.

I assume Apple content is all encrypted, if thats the case then maybe just get a new apple tv? but I thought the old ones could do Netflix anyway.

Apple tv is excellent when it works, however found that some updates can render streaming impossible. It also includes netflix but not amazon, pc felt like the easiest solution. Cheers for the advise will check them out
