hi guys

i have a htpc hooked up to my samsung lem40 lcd

its all housed in a antec p180 which lives behind my settee, to cut the noise down it only runs with a cpu fan and no other fans

i know something spooky is going on with hardrive 0 but i think that is a wrong temp reading

are the other temps well with in my hardware limits?

i did have the idea of backing everything up off the harddrives and maybe scaling it down to a matx set up

any ideas?

oh forgot to add i have a gigabyte ds4 and a e6300 cpu

is it worth going for one of the new 45 nm cpus to cut down temps?

Your CPU temperature is a little high considering that's at idle.

I have the P180 and rather than disconnect the fans I bought a cheap fan controller and changed the fans from the Antec 3 speed to some with 3-pin connectors that work with the controller.

The fan controller gives them a +12v nudge at startup and then drops the votage right down so they spin around 600rpm which is near as silence.

I found that having hard disks in the bottom bay with no fan resulted in higher hard drive temps, with a slow spinning fan temps are 15C lower using HDTACH !

You could get a better CPU cooler, one with heatpipes and a slow 120mm fan would be good.

Also consider blanking off the top fan outlet with a slow fan to the rear. Most of my noise comes from the top fan so I usually keep the argos catalogue on top of the ramp thing which deadens the noise but allows the air out

With zero airflow in your case, your components will bake. I have a P182 for the HTPC too, got the bottom and single exhaust on low.
