I am having the dreaded handshake issues with my HTPC. It means that I always have to power it up first before turning on my AMP/TV, but even worse if I RDP in, I have to shut it down to get display again on the TV. This is not something that can be solved within Windows sadly as it happens on bootup etc.

It is getting to the point where it is annoying me significantly, and have resigned myself to buying a HDMI Detective Plus to fool the EDID (I tried the pin 19 trick but didnt work very well).

Is this the only real solution to the problem? Has anyone else used one?

It wasn't bad before (had a N40L with a 6450, happened once a month), and then now I have moved to a TS140 with a GTX 960 is is much worse.

Tried everything else, using a splitter, switch, blocking off pin 19, every different cable I had, makes no difference.

It's sadly quite a common occurrence when using an amp in between.
