I'm building a single small HTPC, I want the system to beable to

A: Play 1080p HD movies flawlessly
B: Playback Bluray Flawlessly
C: Emulate Wii and PS2 using PCSX2 and Dolphin

I'm not looking at discussing emulation, You just need to know as I know emulating takes some grunt power wise.

Now here is what I've come up with already

Western Digital Caviar Red 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache WD20EFRX - OEM
ASRock H61M-ITX Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 M-ITX Motherboard
Thermaltake Element Q mini-ITX HTPC Case - 220W Power Supply
Intel Celeron G530 2.40GHz Socket LGA 1155 Processor - Retail
Corsair Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low Voltage Dual-Channel Kit
Sony Optiarc AD-5280S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Now I dont think the spec is too bad, And I'll probably change the Hard drive out for a larger size, as it all depends on wages at the end of next month.

Couple of questions. The RPM of that drive is 5900, is the difference apparent when just playing a movie? Would I benefit from a 7200? System start times dont worry me.

Can you spec me a low profile, silent graphic card that will be capable of the A, B and C I listed above?

You'll notice I havent included a bluray drive in my spec, Thats because I havent 100% decided on getting one. But I'd still like the rig capable.

Obviously an i3 would be a better choice CPU wise, but is swapping necessary to meet my requirements?

Also, 220watt PSU, is that going to hurt me?

well then that sucks :D Carry on looking I think then.

I may have to stop being cheap with the GPU... Just looking at the 7750 low profile

oOo, This ticks another box of mine. :D I get to play with FM2 :D

Wonder if there are any good overclocking options when deaing with a mini-ITX build. May stretch to the 5800k as its not much more than the 5700

Thanks for this, I think I'll stick with the smaller case. And see how it copes, maybe look into a push pull config with a decent aftermarket cooler, but nothing amazing. Just so I can play with mild overclocking, rather than extreme.

Just been looking, would the APU alone be capable of emulation? Rather than getting a card too, I suppose we can find out. And I'll just look into a card if necessary.

I am looking to do the same sort of setup as you and i think it would probably run off of the apu itself but im going to add another GFX card just incase . If you get your pc before mine ( Building slow as cant really afford it ) can you please share yopur results

Yeah that will be no trouble, I'll be getting it at the end of next month I think. I'm also looking at getting a 50" LG HDTV to along side it, So I'm also doing some saving up :D

I've just been looking at alternative cases, And I'm going to go with this one

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-198-LL

And yes, In red :D My Living room is White, Dark Grey and Hints of Red, so it'll sit nicely under the TV with my Xbox360 and PS3 :D

The case allows for plenty of cooling so I can play with overclocking the APU
