Hi im planning to replace 5 fans on a htpc, 3 case fans 1 psu fan and one cpu fan,

in the above pic you see the psu fan is the same size as the case ones, with 2 differences, the depth and the connector is 2 pin instead of molex format.

questions: 1.)does someone know where to get a low profile (80mm?) with a 2pin connector?

2.) which silent case fans would people recommend?

3.) which cpu fans or, hs+fan replacement (for AM2), ive seen a scythe mini ninja shuriken, which fits the 65mm gap, but is that worth it?

im looking for "silent" fans ofc, case is a antec nsk1480 btw, thanks for your help.

Hey cam88,

welcome to OcUK forums! :)

I am interested to know about modding a PSU's fan, I think most peeps with the technical know-how just snip off the regular 3-pin connection and mod on the PSU stylee 2-pin, I've not seen actual 2-pin PSU fans for sale ever so . . .

Obviously take good care while tinkering inside you opened PSu as they carry quite a dangerous charge even when unplugged, I'm sure you may well know this but it's worth mentioning anyway for any lurkers who don't know!

The thing that springs to mind about your post if why so many fans?

well its what the case was designed for 3 case fans and the standard psu and cpu fan, i unplugged the original antec case fans, but still hear noise from the psu and cpu, so it could be 2 fans, but if all the new ones are similar db, might as well replace them all.

modding sounds good for the 3pin, do they sell low profile?

Hi cam, i got that case as well and am using these fans. I know they are out of stock but if you can get them from anywhere else, they do the job in silence.

Will you post back if you get the PSU sorted as that is the only thing i cant get quiet.

*EDIT*
I am using the ninja shuriken and it works well, whether it is better than the cheaper coolers, i dont know.
