Looking to come up with an HTPC build for about £300-400, I don't need:

- OS
- Blu-ray drive
- Any software

But I need everything else. It will basically be for watching 1080p MKVs and Blu-rays and maybe a bit of emulator gaming (up to PS1).

Looks awesome man, are you confident it could smoothly play Blu-rays and 1080p MKVs?

EDIT: Additionally, could you recommend a more HTPCish case? I'm probably going to have it lying down horizontally in my TV cabinet.

The 760G is not designed for 1080p bluray/MKV - you want a 780G or 880/890G motherboard.

The Quad core is way overkill for an HTPC - you would be better off with a lower wattage x2.

For the case I would recommend having a look at the Zalman HD501 (its a bit more but it looks good IMO).

This is a basic build - just add HDD + Case.
