Wasn't sure where to put this since I'm asking about a bit of everything so I'd thought I'd ask in general. Got an old machine, P4 3.6 Ghz, 1GB DDR and wondering if I slot in a HD3450 would it be fast enough and cope well enough for Bluray movies from a LG Bluray player?

Cheers :)

Providing you get the ATI to offload the HD content successfully you'l be fine.

When i run bluray my 4870 does 99% of the work and my cpu runs about 10% usage.

Doesn't the HD3450 do that automatically without me having to do anything? or do I actually have to do something in terms of changing settings for it to become the primary decoder for the HD stuff?

You'll need to use a codec which supports the offload to the GPU. One of the versions of PowerDVD does, not sure what else.
