Sooooo, I've got a broken laptop and I thought I'd salvage the hard drive and build myself an HTPC for the bedroom as I have a nice shiny i7 rig downstairs anyway. I thought for 200 quid I could sort something out... How wrong I was! Talk about a rip off, the prices of HTPC's staggered me! So I thought I'd stick something together myself. I found a few bits here and there but thought I'd order these parts from OCUK, apart from the case which is from a place I am forbidden to talk about! :p

Spec is a ******** Vision Media Centre Case

E5700 Processor
Radeon HD4350 512mb
2gb DDR3 PC3 1333mhz RAM
MSI G41M Motherboard
WD 7500 SATA 2.5" 150 gb HDD
2.5" HDD adapter

All for £200. Didnt want to spend any more than that on something that'll be just used for the internet and streaming from my NAS drive. Do you guys have any suggestions before I order the parts. Case needs to be a media centre case, i.e looks like a DVD player or such like and not a tower, as the mrs would whinge!:D

atb,

for a media centre pc you can use much lower spec than that
i am pritty sure that ddr2-800 or even ddr2-667 woudl be fine
unless you are looking for proformance
