HTPC hdmi 2.0 card

In terms of 4K over HDMI, I guess the question you should ask yourself is what TV will you be using?

Many new TV from 2016 now has HDR support, and while our current graphic cards don't. I think AMD has already announced that they will have HDR support for their next gen cards, but heard nothing regarding that yet from Nvidia side.

I have a budget Hisense 4k TV and a JVC x700 projector which accept 4k resolution with its eshift technology (HD fury integral to get around copy protection). Neither support HDR.

Thanks for the reply :)

If you are only after video playback at 4K, then yes the 960 will do...just don't expect to do any proper gaming at that res :p

Personally, I would say you'd better off waiting for new gen card to launch if you are not in a hurry, as the the 960 is a bit under-powered for the price.

Fingers-cross for 980Ti EOL price at <£220 when 1070 is launched :)

Thanks, I think I'll wait a while then, no rush and I'm not sure how much I'll benefit feeding 4k to my JVC, 1080p is already absolutely stunning.
At larger screen size, the 4K res WILL make a pretty big difference comparing to 1080p, as it has twice the Pixel Density/PPI :p

A single 980Ti will not be able to max demanding games at max settings at 4K, but it should still be able to do 4K at medium to high settings ;)
