Im moving in to a new house in a month or so, and want to sort out a PC for the lounge. Its the first time I wont be living with 4+ people, and itll just be me and a good friend there - Meaning that we can actually have nice stuff without being worried itll be broken etc.

Originally I was just aiming to have some sort of old PC hooked up to the TV for basic web browsing, streaming the odd film etc. However, we both have a bit of money saved up and hes willing to go halves with me.. So I want to up the ante a little bit.

The functions Im looking for are:
Basic browsing,
HD playback,
File server,
Web server,
Perhaps a firewall for our network?,
Perhaps the odd game (EVE mainly),
Silent.

Is it feasible to do all this in one box? Would I be better off using two systems? What sort of grade hardware should I be looking at? Is any specific component particularly vital for a server such as that?

Just looking for some pointers, advice etc. as to what sort of hardware Im going to have to look in to getting. Also, if there is anything special I need to consider in relation to the case/cooling as it will be on 24/7.

Also, does anyone know of a good quality keyboard/track ball sort of combo? My friend used to have one, and although it was a good idea.. It never really worked that well in reality.
