Hi, I've had a laptop for a few months now but don't seem to use it all that much since upgrading my main pc. I have decided to use it as a htpc so I can watch movies and tv shows on my 46" Sony bravia. My question is, with it being a laptop I'll be using would it be best to remove the battery as to not cause it damage or should it be okay? Thanks.

I will have the laptop plugged into the mains. I'm thinking that if I leave the battery in it will over charge and I'm led the believe that's no good for a battery.

Check the bios settings, some laptops come with a feature that stops charging the battery at a given % (say 80%) if so leave it in, if you are not happy take it out, l dont' think these days it is a drama due to the charge ccts fitted.

Thanks for the reply, I've another question. Is it possible to have the laptop power on from pressing a key on a wireless keyboard? I know that there is usually a option in the bios but I can't seem to find it. Is there any other way of doing this as the laptop where I want it to be is in a awkward position. Thanks.

Just checked with my Logitech K260 wireless keyboard and mouse.

With the lid set not to turn off the computer, l selected the PC power button on keyboard, laptop goes to sleep/hibernate and l am able to turn it back on by pressing the same button. or any button and moving the mouse.
