Hi,

I have a Silverstone Grandia GD04 case and have a question about mounting a SSD.

This is the only data disk that I'm fitting.

There is a detachable metal frame that attaches to the chassis that can hold 3.5" and 2.5" drives - looks like it could hold 4 in total, 2 of each type.

First a mounting problem - if I use the 2.5" mounting screws the drive is so close to the frame that the SATA power cable won't fit. I could remedy this by fitting the drive to a 3.5" adaptor.

But before I buy an adaptor, a quick question.

Would I be better leaving this disk frame out altogether and just velcro the SSD to the case. This would result in much more free space for air to circulate.

Or does having the frame in place help channel air from case fans rather than obstruct it.

Cheers,

Nigel

Having a quick glance at the case it doesn't look like the hard drive mounting frame does anything for airflow so I'd personally just velcro it to the case.

Thanks,

That's what I was thinking. Looks more of an obstruction to the two case fans if anything.

Cheers,

Nigel
