Hi all I have just got round to building my media pc and for the past few hours i have been trying to get it to boot without any luck.

Here's the spec:

AMD 3500+ 939 venice core ( from my old rig)
1 Gb DDR550 (I think, again from my old rig)
Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU (new)
Li Lian v350 (new)
Maxtor 160Gb Hard Drive (from MM)
ati x850xt (from old rig)

and a gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 from MM which i think is giving me all the problems but i couldn't test it until now and was brought on June 12th

When i switch the pc on all the fans spin as they should LEDs come on ect. But it doesn't post or give me any beeps :( .

What i have tried so far is:

Unplug everything apart from the cpu mobo and one stick of ram. Still no no posting or beeps. Tried plugging it into different monitors for the VGA signal. Tried switching the speaker around. Resetting the bios. Is it possible to flash the bios with a newer version if its F1 then it might not be working with the cpu?

Has anyone got any other ideas? All i can say is i'm abit lost. Tempted to spend a bit more cash in the MM to get a core2 with some ram and a mobo since that case cost me £100

Getting nothing buy power does sound like an issue with the board, not much you can do except try another if you're sure the CPU/RAM are okay.

If you do buy new bits then you should get a 780G board and 45w CPU as a cheap Core2 or the above spec won't like HD stuff at all.

Thats the thing tho it does sort of get power it all sounds right when switched on fans going on hard drive starting but no beeps :(

I have my old 939 mobo some where i think i will give that a try 2moz but i think the cpu and ram are fine. Think I would have any chance of get my cash back :p on well it was only £20 at least i didn't spend too much.

Ok so I have just tested the parts with my asus an8 sli premium and it all works. So this leads me to believe the mobo is duff. If the motherboard has an F1 bios would it being doing what it is doing now since the 3500+ isn't supported on the F1 bios or would it give me the 7 beeps Processor exception interrupt error?

How long did you reset the CMOS for? I'm just wondering if you should try again, then also remove the BIOS battery and switch off the PSU and try again. If you take all the memory out does it give you the 3 beeps to say that there is no memory in?

Looking at the website, it would seem maybe your cpu & memory might not be supported if the board is only on a F1 bios.

Do you have some standard PC3200 memory, like crucial or corsiar to test with? As looking at the bios F4, it seems that before that, it may have had problems with certain DDR modules. (DDR550 wasnt very common when that board was made)

Also, take out the battery for a few hours, see if that works.
