HTPC or Laptop

Hello,

I have had my laptop (Dell E5450 - i5 5300U, 16GB, 250GB SSD) docked on my desk since I bought it in September.

I got it for an absolute steal. I was just wondering. Would it be doable to build a HTPC with better specs and more hard drive capacity for around £350?

I'm just worried i'm going to kill the laptop by having it plugged in 24/7.

You will be okay having it plugged in 24/7. However I would advise you to remove the battery as having it in on the dock at 100% will reduce the battery life.

Check whether the Dell Power Management software has a battery saver mode (I know Lenovo's do) which allows you to reduce the battery charge to around 70% so you could do this instead of removing the battery.
